Well, today is December the 1st, World Aids Day (WAD).
I used to be a volunteer for a local AIDS charity. I have collected money for WAD, and cared for people in the last stages of this terrible disease. But for a few years now the threat of AIDS has diminished significantly to those of us lucky enough to live in first world countries, as those with HIV/AIDS can use medication which mostly keep the ravages of this illness at bay.
But the medications don't work for everyone, and unfortunately didn't work for Ryan - AKA Angelsboi.
For those that didn't have the pleasure of dealing with him here, Angelsboi was a very out and proud poster here on ENWorld, not at all scared to mention his (homo) sexuality, or his religious beliefs. And his love of D&D was evident in his posts. He kept playing and DMing for as long as he could.
For a while Angelsboi was a frequent poster here, and I know that I always checked out threads I saw he'd started, as he usually had a lot of interesting things to add to a game. And it always made me smile when I saw his dancing GIF spread it's wings.
Ryan was only in his 25th year when he passed a few months ago. We were fortunate enough to have his mother and his partner post some messages here to tell us what had happened. He had only been diagnosed less than a year before.
While there are plenty of other non-hetrosexual posters on this board (as other threads in the past have shown), and other posters here have died, I think Ryan will always be missed. I know I think of him often, and miss him.
Now I have to go donate some money to an AIDS charity.
