Worlds Largest City - Mistake?

I love the WLD myself, even though I have noticed many grammatical/spelling errors within the pages. I sent them an email basically offering to proofread the WLC for a finished copy, but I haven't heard anything in response. Perhaps I'm a bit of an anal-retentive, but it irritates me to no end when something as beautiful as the WLD is marred by mispellings and the like.

AEG has commented in L5R threads that spelling is too minor an issue to be concerned about for the cost, so I'm assuming they will feel that way about the City as well.

Can you give us a link?

I agree with Crothian. AEG is smart enough to know how to produce a good product, and I presume that they are smart enough to know how to find an hire talented writers.

Ditto, AEG has enough credit with me based on previous work that I will believe they produce crap when I see them actually produce some.

I speak from experience when I say that writing a city is not easy. I helped write Bluffside, and I can tell you that it is a TON of work.

You should be proud of yourself. that was one hell of a product given how early in the D20 erait came to market.

I still read it fairly often.

Hey folks,

I've just learned that the new AEG follow up product to the Worlds Largest Dungeon (WLD) which is going to be called the Worlds Largest City (WLC) is going to be produced entirely by freelance outsourcers.
Produced? No.
Written by? More or less :p.

The WLD is a great product, and was largely written by freelance authors as well. However the product was compiled and edited in house by respected members of the game community, so quality was maintained. I run the WLD and can attest that its a fantastic piece of work.

Glad you liked it, as you just described the process for WLC, at least as I understand it, being one of those author-types and all :).

Hearing that the WLC is going to be done entirely outside of the company and then marketed through them makes me nervous. It's going to be another high dollar prodcut but this time without the known quality controls that made WLD so fantastic. I realize that not everyone agrees with me that the price tag on WLD was worthwile, but thats not my point here. Does it make anyone else nervous that WLC is being produced outside of AEG?

Me? Not at all. I know the central concept rocks, that my part is gonna be cool, and I have confidence in my cohorts. I'm just wondering where you got such a misplaced rumor :).

Anything new on this?
Judging by the responses posted just before yours, it sounds like it's still being written and put together. They probably are shooting for Gen Con next year to roll out a product of this size.
