World's Longest Wait

My status page still estimates that my copy will arive September 9th.....

What I find amazing is that one of the world's largest booksellers can't get a product out to it's customers within 2 weeks of it's release.

And I really doubt that the info on the product page will help future sales.

"Availability: This title usually ships within 1 to 2 months. Please note that special order titles occasionally go out of print, or publishers run out of stock. These hard-to-find titles are not discounted and are subject to an additional charge of $1.99 per book due to the extra cost of ordering them. We will notify you within 2-3 weeks if we have trouble obtaining this title Learn more"

Reading this gives the impression that the book isn't available, and IMHO will cause a decline in sales (Since I know many RPG players who buy from Amazon).

If I had not of ordered it before the release I would not have bothered to order it from a vendor with this type of disclaimer.

Of course I am also surprised that someone from Alderac has not seen the discussion going on on these boards and said something about why it is taking so long for the World's Largest Dungeon to get to such a large and prominent vendor.

So should we start a pool to try and pinpoint when the book will actually ship from Amazon, or should I buy some special Christmas paper to wrap it in when it does arrive :(

It may be that Amazon does not have any copies of the book yet. The publisher could be late in getting them to Amazon. I have notied that some d20 publishers get their books out to Amazon quite later.

When you do get your copy check out this thread. http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=100030 The book is worth the price IMHO. I've worked through two regions of it and the fact that the designers were limited to the SRD means that some neater creatures can (and should) be added from other publications or the GM's imagintation, but its really very good material.

Then again my game group bought it for me... so the $100 I placed on the table didn't come from my own pocketbook... however I'd have bought it anyhow.

I have no doubt that it is worth the price, but hey, I'm a value investor. I never pay-up for an asset when I can get it on the cheap, a little bit later.

Besides, from a good guess, it sounds like AEG has delayed shipping product to Amazon in order to give the FLGS community a chance of pushing the book first. I may not agree with that stance, but I can understand and accept it.

So, I can't really blame Amazon for the delay. Talk to the publisher!
