Yep---the name is very evocative.

Then again, I applaud any departure from the utterdork of 'zuggtmoys' and 'iggwilvs'.
Or Wee Jas, which was an utterly awesome deity with an utterly... erm... humorous name.

So, I like 'Raven Queen' as a name. Furthermore, the Shadar-Kai... have a strange name, but it could be worse and is a legacy name... the concept is usable. It already was in 3E, but suffered from a) the late introduction, b) mechanic execution, and c) the utter boringness of the Shadow Plane.

With the Shadowfell and the Raven Queen-pact, I see that they're getting better - and the Shadowfell needs an iconic critter with traction, otherwise it keeps being boring. Even if the Shadar-Kai are forced, it's better than nothing, even if they're not the new Mind Flayers.

Cheers, LT.

...

I will mourn the loss of Wee Jas, the best of the 3e gods by far. (it's the "vanity" aspect that does it, death and magic go together, sure, but vanity is just oddball enough to feel real world organic)

Afraid the 4e team still thinks it's the late 90s. Gotta have their emo monster. As far bad names go. Let's face it. The late 2e design team, who became the 3e team, didn't have the best imagination and talent with names. Those kept and brought on for 4e are not much better. "Raven Queen"? That's the beat they could think up for a death goddess.

I like Raven Queen though.

It does give me a "Lady of Pain" vibe and I liked her. Does she have an actual name or just that title?

Any word on how the mechanical or flavor with the undead? Much thanks in advance.

Ideally she has a name, but no one, not even the gods, speaks it aloud lest they draw her attention...
