Oh, yeah, I'm really kicking myself over this one.

Thing is, to a certain extent I took the view that with free software you too often get what you pay for, so didn't really consider it. Plus, I did actually like the way Word worked and was laid out (plus, use it frequently for work, so have a lot of experience with it). I just didn't even consider Microsoft would go and do something like this. :mad:

Oh, well, an expensive lesson, but one worth learning I guess.

Not to derail the thread, but OpenOffice is actually pretty good. I use its Power Point mock-up all the time myself.

It's half-a-joke. THere was a guy at Paizo who couldn't put 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1=10 encounters so I whipped up "Snakes on a Flying Carpet." It was good for a laugh and hopefully made my point.

Still no adventures, but I thought it's a good time for an update. The WoAdWriMo blog is now featuring an "Advice from the Pros" series. So far, there are entries by Mike Mearls and S. John Ross of Cumberland Games & Diversions.
 


Just checked the blog, and the first adventure is in! It's a 4-level dungeon for characters of levels 1-5 (for D&D 3.5 rules). I haven't read through it yet, but the background story promises lots of aberrant weirdness...

Soon, Cherno had amassed a small mercenary group of mostly-dwarven outcasts, lead by Duergar officers. The Darkjewel Legion under the command of Cherno the mad may have indeed mastered the raw power of many elemental servants, but now their forces were augmented by alien parasites and chaos-creatures from the Far Realms.

Then, just as suddenly as they appeared, the Darkjewel Legion unexpectedly retreated back into it's hidden lair in the mountains. A few dwarven mercenaries deserted, telling tales of how their leader had completely been absorbed by the alien presence that had infected him in the Far Realm. Cherno was never heard from again. A few Duergar officers and die-hard supporters of the Darkjewel legion still carry his banner, but the only thing left now is the Maze.


And now, a few years later, someone's turned up an entrance to the Maze...

I just hope to finish mine by early July at this rate! :heh:
 

Heh, and if I finish my entry in time, that will be some major weird stuff. Weird on the level of Arduin or those early Judges Guild modules. :D

(Started this morning, typed in seven pages so far, finished playtesting yesterday, most of the illustration booklet is done, things are starting to look good...)

Okay, to be fair, I haven't been writing all of the adventure each month, but keeping all this stuff in line is hard work. I'm working on #6 now, Tears of the Burning Sky. Burning undead fun!

No doubt you've got the harder job, but there are $ involved... Then again, I suppose WoAdWriMo is competition. Better watch out, or EN World will take back our license to post about it! :p
