That's a function of Super Saver Shipping. The rumor is though that Amazon will still ship early, even for the cheap ones.

Well, shipping method doesn't seem to have much influence on actual ship date, at least when it's standard vs. free, in my experience. I've defintely had super saver orders ship the day I place them, and standard shipping items that were listed as in stock take few days.

Actually, what makes sense if for them to fulfill orders based on shipping method then order date.

True, but they used to have a bad habbit of handling pre-orders after standard orders, and handling pre-orders in a first-in, last-out fashion. I don't know if they still do that, but it's why I rarely pre-order (if I had any expectation that my tabletop game was going to quickly convert to 4e, I wouldn't have pre-ordered).

You are all a bunch of wusses and crybabies ;) ... My Amazon page says:

" Items not yet shipped:
Delivery estimate: July 2, 2008 - July 23, 2008
Shipping estimate: June 6, 2008"

<rant>
Why the heck online vendors take three times as long and charge twice as much to deliver to the country just south of the USA than to the country just north??

And my Local Unfriendly Comicbook Store (where the owner feels he's doing you a favor by stocking some gaming books) will probably have the books by November or so, and they will probably be "Retail Price + 15% + Currency fluctuation"
</rant>

:sigh: sorry about that... nevermind... Anyway, from previous experience with Amazon, it will probably take 2-3 weeks to deliver, not 4-6

Er...why?

We're still over a week away from the actual launch date and I don't see any reason Amazon would violate the streetdate.

Amazon UK quoted me 4th to the 6th of June for KotS!
Needless to say I cancelled and made the trip out to my F(not so)LGS

What is this "ship time" you speak of? I'm getting mine from my FLGS, and they'll most likely be "harry pottering" it and keep the store open late to have customers pick it up at 12:01am on Friday morning.

But I know that staying open a few hours extra to sell books at deep discounts trying to compete with Amazon isn't making them money. But it is getting them goodwill and loyal customers. I'm voting with my wallet for my FLGS.

Cheers,

Luckily, I got my buy.com order just this morning -
