[WotC comes through!] City of the Spider Queen slated for September!

Hrm.

I'd be really, really surprised if City was dropped. WotC is making a big drow push this year, with the new series of novels, the Chainmail minis coming out, the all drow issue of Dragon, and the (hopefully) City of the Spider Queen. IIRC, the indomitable Erik Mona is also serving up some info on the Vault of the Drow in an upcoming Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. It would make very little sense for WotC to drop this project. From what I heard from the playtesters I know, it's an incredibly good adventure.

WOTC's committment to a product is not dependent on the on-line catalog or what they put on the website. It is dependent on what is printed in hard copy in the catalog they send out to distributors and retailers.

And City of the Spider Queen is in the printed catalog. So it will come out, but I don't recall what the month is.

Don't sweat the stuff on the website. I have seen stuff come and go with regularity on the website - dependent on how overworked the web gerbil is, or what brain fart some corporate suit has had that week.

I used to ask about this all the time on Realms-L discussion group and that is usually the reply I get - the web guy has not got to it yet or a decision to delay a product was made by the higher ups.

Up until this week, it was scheduled to be released alongside Silver Marches in August. Perhaps it has been shoved back to September (and Amazon thinks so), but the New Releases for September page (http://www.wizards.com/catalog/index.asp?s=release,sep02) only lists Monster Manual II.

Note that the October, November, and December pages list no products -- yet we know of at least one product due in that quarter (Book of Vile Darkness in October). And I'd be surprised (and a bit worried) if that's all they have scheduled to be released at the end of the year.

Also, Monster Manual II was originally supposed to come out earlier than Sept. (July? August? I forget), but it got pushed back; when it was, the entry was moved from the whatever the original month was to September.

I think it's just a case of the web-guy having not yet filled in the later months on the web catalog. He'll make time to remove the the thing that was pushed back (so that they aren't giving out false information), but didn't have time to put it in. Maybe they hadn't decided when it would be released.

As to why it would be pushed back: I'd bet that it was because they already had Silver Marches scheduled for that month, and didn't want two new FR products out at once.

Actually, I'm pretty sure there are at least two people working on various parts of the website - Mark Jindra (Jidra?) and Mel Somethingorother, who I believe works mostly on the community side of things (chat/boards)
