WotC Dungeon Tiles vs. 3rd Party Products

I bought a bunch of skeleton key games pdfs but have never actually used them. I just don't spend the time to do so. I have used Steve Jackson Games cardboard dungeons and caverns a lot and would highly recommend both sets of them.

Dungeon Tiles are nice and sturdy, not to mention cheap.
I just picked up a second set of Dungeon Tiles this week. It was money well spent.
The Pdf tiles are probably nice but are waaaaaaaay too much work. If there was something specific that I wanted to use them for I could see it but otherwise, nah.

I grabbed two sets of the WotC Dungeon Tiles and they saw action a few nights later. I found them excellent to use and was very impressed with both the sturdiness of the card and the quality of the printing (though I still can't work out what the dark blue/black colour on the back of a few of the tiles is meant to represent - printing error, maybe?).
Actually, I believe the black sides are intentional. Say you want a 30-foot corridor; you can take a 40-foot corridor tile and plunk a 10-foot "black" tile over one end, effectively cropping off the last 10 feet. (Note that I'm making up this example - I don't recall the specific sizes of the actual tiles, and there may not be a "40-foot corridor" tile in the main set.)

I picked up a set of these myself, and will be using them in tomorrow's game for the first time.

I love SKG tiles. One great part is that you can print them and cut them however you want. You don't need to cut them "on the lines" as it were. I use these quite often. You can have curves and other shapes.

The WotC tiles are also great, but you won't want to cut them or otherwise alter/write on them. They are very, very sturdy.

I'd go with both, and any other free tiles you can find on line. There are literally hundreds of free tiles available on line, ready to be printed out and made whatever shape/style you want.

Does anyone who has used both these and Tac-Tiles prefer these? I can't imagine not using my Tac-Tiles.

This is all really apples to oranges to bananas, I think. I use my Tact-Tiles a lot for impromptu or planned but short encounters and one-offs. I've used the printable stuff for set-piece battles, recurring scenes, etc. where I want to kick things up a notch. I don't use the WotC tiles, but I suspect they are more geared towards the middle ground -- people who want something that looks nice for the random encounters, and who don't mind adapting the settings for the big battles to match what they have in tiles. Each has a place.
