D&D (2024) WotC has called the new ruleset 5.2. Why don't we?

I'm mostly opposed to it because WotC got upset and didn't want us to call it 5.5. And when they called it One DND and we started to call it 5.One or 5.1 they got upset and said no don't call it that. So now that we've settled on 5.24 or 5e24 they want to come out with a new branding and call it 5.2.

No. Go away. You had two years to control the brand name, and you didn't want to.

D&D 5.2

I'll wait until they send down orders for all of us to follow as good and loyal customers that I agree with.

So we'll wait to see what they say in July then what new thing they say in August.

SRD v5.2 has nothing do do with branding. It's US saying we'd prefer to use the SRD version number to delimit this revision to the core rules, not WotC. They're only using the 5.2 to delimit the SRD from the 2016 revision to the SRD.

5.5 has the most traction in the groups and discords I frequent, so that's likely what I'll use here as well. But I don't mind it having a dozen different names on here or Reddit, and think the confusion of everyone using different names will be mildly funny. :geek:

Things will only get weird if we get a second revision to 5E before 6E.
