WotC putting out a Book of Magic Items?

In the Libris Mortis Design Team Interview Bruce Cordell hints at a magic item book coming in the next year.

Bruce Cordell: I've got a few things on my plate -- in fact, I'm finalizing something that I was designing last time I was interviewed, so I'll give you the same answer (since it doesn't yet appear in any catalogs): I'm working on a book that every player will want because it focuses on those things for which every player peers through the back of the Dungeon Master's Guide and that every player character covets, longs for, and slavers over while adventuring.

nope...I got the official word from inside sources, the official title and by-line are:

Complete Hidden Smut
Soccer mom's would never check the back of the DMG...now, more than ever, a whole book that they'll never look for porn in!

lol...sorry, comes from the fact that when my group first decided to go back and play DnD 2e, the DMG had several porn-centered 'comic strips' (lvie action, panel-based porn stories, with bubble captions)

In seriousness, it'd be great if WotC did a magic item book...especially if they'd collect all their new 3.5 items so far, and make one big generation chart (so all rolled treasure isn't just core)

I don't know, it'd be hard to top the magic item generation charts in Diablo II: Diablerie. Over 1,000,000 magic items!

More likely, to me at least, is that he's talking about a 3.5E Book of Artifacts.

It would be nice if it presented the Arcana Unearthed item types based on function rather than form as an option.

Aaron.

There are many possible weapons just using the DMG rules (and, perhaps, using the pricing chart -- not abilities -- from the ELH):

There are over 1.2 billion types of longswords, for example, that can be made from DMG special abilities -- assuming bane can be taken only once. (It's something like 85 500 000 000 000 000 otherwise).

That's the advantage of a construction system, at least on paper.
