WotC Setting Bible

Back when the contest that led to Eberron was being held, WotC gave the chance for the finalists to put together a 125-page campaign setting bible. Out of curiosity, does anyone know if WotC ever showed what the required format of said bible was? I'd be interested in seeing what they thought was most important in presenting a new campaign setting.

I'd bet everybody who got that far had to sign an NDA and can never reveal it.

Well one of those settings was picked up and published as Dawnforge. The other belonged to Rich Burlew of Order of the Stick fame. I agree that it would be interesting to see what they wanted in a setting bible.

It is possible that those people are no longer under a NDA regarding that, or that WOTC might willingly reveal that information. Failing both of those, you could take Dawn Forge and Ebberon and reverese engineer the document from the areas those two products have in common with each other.

If someone does that, please post it here, I would be curious to see it too.

I don't know the terms of WotC's NDA, but in many that I've seen outside of the gaming world, they have a three-year duration, after which the parties may disclose to their heart's content.

Dawnforge and Morningstar were semi-finalists, but WotC ultimately did not accept them, so they were published by other companies. WotC kept the three finalist submissions and published Eberron. What they are doing with the other two is, well, a big mystery. Especially now years later when a lot of new people are over there.

I don't think you could reverse engineer that, because the format of a published setting vs. a setting bible would necessarily differ greatly.

I doubt WOTC is going to do anything with the other settings. Eberron certainly wasn't the huge hit WOTC thought it might be, and I doubt they'd want to muddy the waters with yet another setting any time soon.

Add me to the list of people who'd like to see the format of the setting bible (I don't particularly care to see the bibles themselves).
