I really do not see why the hate on MTG setting as D&D setting. I was like that, once, but then they let out Amonkhet, Innistrad, Kaladesh and Ixalan. All had good idea and good potential. So when the Ravnica book got out, I decided to look at it. The store owner was kind enough to let me peruse the book before buying. After an hour and two read through (I read really fast) I decided to buy it. The guild approach to Ravnica is great and I wonder why it was not applied to factions like the Emerald enclave, The Lord's alliance and the others in FR (or any other setting for that matter). So when I heard about Theros, my mind was already set. I will buy it. As for a few questions/comments I saw in this thread... A spear wielding fighter is easy to make. The battle master and champions are perfectly suited for this. No need for additional subclass (I allergic to too many subclasses, but I am not in any obligation to add them If I do not want them. The artificer was a new class, and as such, was really great. With what we have right now, we can do any concept we want so I would much prefer new options, rules, background etc...). I want Greyhawk, but I will not balk at other books because of that. I think that keeping an open mind is the mark of a good DM. The only book I do not have bought (so far) is the Rick and Mortimer. It was not my cup of tea even after two full reading. I kinda of regret that it is not the greek mythos that is in Theros but in this thread, someone was kind enough to remind us that it was possible to adjust them with the Olympian gods with ease. I wonder why I did not think of this myself. I hope we will see rules for bronze weapons and armor. And even linothorax armor sets. I think we would see more medium armored characters with a relatively good dexterity in this setting and it would be a good thing to see. Currently, the medium armor aspect of the game is a bit meh but with the free godly gift (medium armor master?) a 16 dexterity medium armored spear fighter with shield can be fully functional and competitive. Maybe adding a new spear type. Short spear (1d6/1d8 two handed), Spear (1d8, one handed with reach) and the long spear (1d10, reach) all with their respective throwing range. (just an idea...) I really hope to see better medusae, gorgons, chimeras and hydras as they are iconic of the Greek mythos. I guess we'll have to get our hands on the book to see the goodies in it. ;)
