I just got an e-mail from Gen Con announcing that WOTC will be co-sponsoring Gen Con this year. I for one am happy. I'm looking forward to playing in the Living Realms games.

Yeah, there's a shock.
I mean, seriously, did anyone really think there was any possibility of WotC -- releasing a new edition of D&D, fer Christ's sake -- not showing up for GenCon?
It was a marketing ploy or an attempt to rattle GenCon LLC. Or both. WotC not showing up at GenCon to promote 4E was simply not going to happen, and it was silly to pretend otherwise.

Yeah, it seemed highly unlikely that they would be a no-show. More than likely, they had to get approval through Hasbro to help sponsor the show since Gen Con LLC is in a state of bankruptcy and Hasbro has a policy of not dealing with such companies. Since adhering to that policy would be detrimental to their presence in the market and the success of the new version of the game, it only makes sense for them to be there. It's a shame I can't make it his year. Maybe next....
