WotC WotC Winter 2026 D&D Community Survey

I'm not sure it matters at this point. Almost everyone involved in 5.5 is gone. I'm curious to see what the new team does, about two years from now.

I suggested it appeared they had no roadmap, given they released a starter set with no follow-up. I also said if they ever team up with Rowling, I'm out.
James Wyatt, Wes Schneider, Makenzie De Armas, and most importantly Justice Ramin Arman are all still around and making the game. I don't expect they will change the game again until 2034.

Fair. But it takes multiple years for products, which is why I said two years ... Given they've hired three or four people in the just year or two? But maybe the core team is still the team, and this is what we're getting? I'm planning to buy zero products from WotC this year .. First time I can say this in decades.

Oh, sure, they are making stuff. But the core team is still people who worked on the current Core, and it will be a long while until that comes around again.

Im not saying they shouldnt earn money, I'm not an idiot and I know how the world works. But I also know a Corp is in it for the bottom line and not for players happiness / whats best for the consumer. Yes, both can happen but at the end of the day money comes first. That's the real world.
If you're willing to look, I bet you can find plenty of TTRPGs out there that do operate like open source free ware! They just won't have the D&D label so many people here want.

I'd rather the devil I know than gamble 6e will be another edition I don't like.

Atm same.

I like 5.5. I dont think it will hold for 10 years like 5.0 did. Mostly because of 5.0 vs anything 5.5 did or didnt do.

I'm still digesting 5.0 material as well. We didnt use a lot of it. 1 campaign a year roughly you can't.
