WotC_Dave: Druid!

There will be a druid class near 4e release from Nercomancer games (I'm assuming here), I wonder how close the concepts are.

Any comments Ari?!? :D

I guess this "hybrid" role, is more like you either fill one role OR the other at any given time, but not simultaneously.
While in normal form the Druid is likely to be a controller: weather spells and stuff.
While in animal form, he is mostly a Defender. And, thank God, can't cast spells (curse you, Natural Spell!!)

I'm all for it!

Ari stated somewhere (maybe even in the beginning of this thread, but I am to lazy busy to find the exact location) that the Necromancer version would go the "less-shapeshifty"-way.

As someone who hasn't had a chance to play or touch the phb2 book for a while -- In general terms, what were some of the major changes made by the PHB2 to the druid?
Two alternate class features:

1) Instead of Summon Nature's Ally, a druid could "lose" a prepared spell to grant fast healing x ("x" being the spell level sacrificed) for 3 rounds to all allies within 30 feet.

2) Instead of wildshape and animal companion, the druid gets shapeshifting. Instead of changing to specific animals, he changed into generic shapes. A "predator" could be a wolf, cougar, wolverine, etc, but the stats remained the same (and were based off the druid's own abilities, so instead of changing into a Str 15 wolf, he got a +2 to Str). At higher levels he gained access to avian, great predator, elemental and plant forms.

Won't miss/need all the summoning emphasis from 3rd, but really, my wife not able to play her standard female druid with tiger/lion/panther/etc companion?

I am in trouble.

I was hopping the druid would be a leader with a splash of controller, but it looks like he's shaping (ooh, sorry for the terrible pun) up to be a striker with a dash of controller…?
