Would D&D be easier to play (and learn for noobs) if there were more classes and fewer feats? What's so hard for WotC to add new classes (instead of dumping impossible prestige classes on us)? Is it just to have material in the form of feats and spells to fill up books?

I vote for more classes. At it's extreme, we have unearthed arcana's main 3 classes and thousands of feats..but there's no other option..unless you consider doing the calculus it takes to figure out how to 'obtain' a prestige class.

I vote for my feats. New classes are package deals and, to be blunt, I rarely see them done right, whether base, prestige, or (like the CW samurai) can't decide on which it is *rolleyes*

Ditto! Plus some good electronic help for the GM.

While it'd be nice I don't think enough people look to the computer for help with gaming to really make it worth it. They'd have to release it as a CD with the DMG or something like they did with the character generator and the PHB.

Hoards of new classes seems to be more like 2e kits though, which was a bit of a problem. It is not that there need to be more classes, but that DMs need to remember to fit classes to the world. If something does not belong there, it should be yanked right out, and if there is a niche missing, the DM should find something to plug it up. Or D&D could go the d20 Modern/Grim Tales approach. There are six classes based upon the six attributes. You get plenty of bonus feats and talents that allow you to customize your character as you, the player, sees fit.

Well, I'm used to computers. I don't like them during play, but for preparation. After that CD in the PHB I had some hope they'd flesh that one out. The current system is too clunky, though. Plus, the updates should be in every new book they produce and not expensive extras.

If most of the spells and magic items were relegated to a companion volume. if the spell system could be redone slightly, making it more like Arcana Unearthed, I could well live with that.

Actually, I prefer less classes (including the elimination of all PrCs) with the addition of Talents/Feata ala Grim Tales/d20 Modern.

Most especially, since this effectively gets rid of PrCs. Is there an ability that a player envisions for his character that doesn't exist? Well instead of investing 5 levels in a PrC or Class that does not fit his character, he can just grab a talent or a bonus feat. If only the creators of d20 Modern knew how revolutionary they were...
