Would It Break The Game If...: Weapon Damage

One question: what will you do for weapons with multiple damage dice, eg falchion's 2d4 and various large sized weapons?
A falchion would be 2d6-2 with a minimum of 2. Or you could simply make it 1d6+1 or 1d6+2 which are approximate, but +/- 0.5 damage. If I were to do it, I would probably make it a 1d6+1, slightly better than the scimitar, which has the same crit range.
Personally, I like all the different types of dice, but as I think about it, I can't really think of how it might break the game at all. Only thing I can think of is if you use this as a DM, running prewritten monsters would be a pain in the butt. Players just need to make the modification once, write it down, and they'll be good. DM would have to convert damages of all the monsters they use.
I'm pretty good at converting things like this on the fly. If I see 2d8+5 in a monster entry, it is simple enough for me to think 2d6+7 instead. It isn't really that complicated IMHO.
If your players are making mistakes often enough that you feel the need to implement this system, you have a player problem and I suspect this sort of change won't help. They will just confuse the modifier "Do I add 1 or 2 for a d10?" What are you going to do then?
What you mention here is a non-issue. If the damage die is 1d10 RAW then the player writes 1d6+2 on the character sheet and never thinks about the pesky d10 again.
While the averages remain (more or less) the same, you are loosing the top end. And what are you going to do about weapons that do 2d4 or 2d8 etc...? Roll multiple d6s or 1d6 with more modifiers.
The average is exactly the same (with the exception of the d4). It is the range that differs.

For weapons that have multiple dice it is as simple as adding the multiple variants of the d6. If the weapon is 2d8, then that is two 1d6+1 for a total of 2d6+2. If the weapon is 3d10, then that is three 1d6+2 for a total of 3d6+6.
MY SOLUTION
I would suggest that instead of implementing this system, have all the guilty players clearly seperate their dice by type, perhaps on a post-it note with the dice type clearly printed, before the game.
Part of the purpose of this system is to clear up the table of the various types of dice sitting around. This actually creates more clutter so isn't what I am looking for.
