Releasing any 4.5e, let alone releasing one right now, would be a monumental mistake.

WotC should try really hard to find some way to get through two more years with 4e/Essentials, and then think about releasing 5e.

Depends - what is in this hypothetical product?

I would look at it and decide if I wanted it based on the content, not the name.

Seconded. I bought 4e because of 4e's content. I'd judge 4.5e on the same. I'd certainly prefer a new edition to a revision of this one. Then again, I like this one just fine.

Specifying it would negate the intend of my poll. I want to see how purchases are affected by the naming of the products. Would just the name put you off or would you give the product a fair chance, despite of the name? Please answer honestly.

Just for Morrus to decide, just let's say they had 'Essentials' called '4.5'.

DISCLAIMER: I don't say that this naming would be justified. It just serves as an example for the question. Please don't discuss this in this thread!

Question to the mods:
How is it possible to vote here without leaving a name?

Yes, of course!

Or did he post twice???? I only see one name!

I don't know that it's possible to edit polls on ENWorld once they've been put up, but you may want to add an option for people that don't just books by their covers.

Yes, the 4.5 name wouldn't put me off.

(I still see Essentials as 4.5E, particularly in terms of the revisions to monsters. Those changes plus the large amounts of errata make the current version 4.5E, IMO.)

If they turn the game into Essentials style classes then no. I'm one of the 70% that wants more than "I attack the Orc!". If they correct the mistakes found in the designs of the first core books then definitely yes!
