Would you buy the Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary for $20?

Is that common practice for ebay? I'd be leary of someone cruising the boards, finding losing bidders, faking the ID and the e-mail just to get your money.

No eBay supports sellers doing this; I've had it happen to me 3 or so times. :) It could be done of course, I would browse a few links on that new auction to verify the legitimacy of the auction but I’m pretty sure your safe. :)

I'm one of the contirbuting authors so I'm a little biased, but I think it is a great book, with lots of well described, interesting creatures, each with adventure hooks included. I'd suggest getting it. It is 3.0 so that is something to consider but monster conversions are easy.

I like the encounter niche symbols which say whether it is a magical creature, a brawler, a trickster, an epic challenge, etc.

It is a very cool book, at least from a reading point of view as I haven't been GMing. And I wish I'd been able to get it that cheaply!

One small caveat is that the book is for 3.0, not 3.5.

Go here:
http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?MemberSearchShow

To get the real world contact info on the seller, and use that to ensure the deal is legitimate.

Also, you can just email the seller listed in the auction, rather than reply to the offer itself, and request phone contact.

The only reason I never bought this book was the price - twice what I thought it should be. Funny how despite buying so much other stuff from eBay I never thought to look for this book there...

I'd pick it up. It's not the best monster book (Monsternomicon gets that vote from me), but it does have a great assortment of monsters of all types. For $20 it's a steal.
