Would you buy this?

Let's just say you could buy the following:

A module like Sunless Citadel with the following:

Every monster represented by a figure painted to a decent level.

The entire dungeon constructed out of Hirst Arts blocks painted to a decent level and Dwarven Forge Master Maze. Easily put together from one semi-large box.

Would you buy it?
What would you pay?

I am considering embarking on just such a project and was curious...

Would depend. How much more would this cost than a normal mod? How hard is the assembly? I personally don't buy many mods, but if something like this were to come around, I might buy it.

No assembly - completely painted. Just layout the areas as you go.

How much more than a normal module? Well, that's the question...

Re-usability.

If it is going to be a module with the added expense and effort than a standard module, it should be a module / area that will see at least more than one use (in my opinion).

So... if you do pick a module, pick one where there is the potential for the area to be encountered several times.

Maybe one where it is a building that could be taken over by the PCs are a base of operations, or something. This is the general possibility open to most any "above ground" buildings be it in the city of wilderness terrain.

Not just "some dungeon" area that will probably never see the light of day beyond the one run through..

I might consider a module in which counters were provided for all monsters, and battlemaps for all areas were included. But the expense of a full set of figures and painted terrain would likely be far too great for my budget.

Reusability is an issue, as well. The figures can easily be reused, but what about the terrain? Is it to be designed so you can use it to build other dungeons as well, or will it be too specific for that?

Yes and no. Most of the dungeon pieces would be reusable, but a couple of the rooms might be unique to the module.

As far as expense - yes, it would not be cheap.

Consider -
A figure for every monster is going to run at least $2.00 each. Enough die keen to cast the whole thing about $30.00. A few pieces of Mastermaze @ $40.00. Cost of the module $10.00.

So figure a cost of $130 or so before any time or effort is put in - that's kind of why I started this thread: would anybody be willing to pay for a complete adventure module like this.

So far, basically three "not mes":)

Not for $130 plus the hassle involved in transporting and storing it, plus the logistical issues of keeping most of it hidden from the players til the right moment.

Sorry, it's too much dough for my taste, and I'm willing to shell out $$ for my hobby. For $130 I'd rather buy a bunch of pre-painted minis and a bunch of Master Maze-style stuff that could be put into whatever configuration I wanted that would be completely reusable.

Cripes, no. Far too expensive. Even for reusable stuff. Even as a novelty item.

However, I wouldn't be adverse to counters. Also, if the set was just miniatures, I might buy it -- I'm always looking for ones that match the NPCs, and if they came along that would be wonderful. But the question is, painted or unpainted...?
