Would you buy this?

$0.02

No, I would not/could not pay that price (even the $130 one).

Here's what I think would work:

Gridded plastic or laminated map pieces (room interiors, passages, etc.) keyed to the module; names and page numbers on the backs. To-scale cards or counters for each beast, piece of treasue, or movable item, made to fit the grid (small & medium-sized objects 5x5', horses 10x10, etc). Stats, room, and page numbers in the module on the backs. Picture on the front. A set of "light circles" to place over larger maps, sized to the grid; one for Candles, torches, lanterns, light spells, daylight, whatever. A cone overlay for hooded bullseye lanterns. These could be placed over the map to show what the PCs can see, with their light source.

An optional minis line could be done, and sold separately, "for use with Valangaurd's Castle", or whatever.

The basic set includes the module, the room and corridor "map pieces" (which are keyed, but could be reused), counters or cards for anything which isn't nailed down, and the "light circles & cones". Maybe, as someone else suggested, sample PCs with sheets and pictures so that you can "play right away". A dry eraser and pen that won't damage the map pieces could also be included... If counters (and not cards) are included, maybe some of those plastic stands to put them in. (Cards are better, I think)

Production costs should be MUCH lower, and the whole thing cost no more than many of the boardgames, plus a module. I assume your costs would be about the same as theirs.

maybe you should consider contacting the miniature manufacturers and hte manufacturers of other materials you'll need. Maybe you would work out a bulk deal and lower your cost by 15 - 25%

I'd likely snap up certain encounter areas in a heartbeat- especially say the shrines of Orcus from RA, or the final battle scene in The Longest Night, but only as dioramas. Hate using miniatures in game, but having a nicely painted display piece as ornamentation? That I like.

This is just a shot in the dark, here, especially as I have never run a gaming store, etc. But what about some kind of "check-out" system from a gaming store? Where, say, all the WotC modules that came out got this treatment and the store could purchase 1 or 2 copies at roughly 200$ and then rent the copies out for 10$/day (???) to gaming groups, or even just rent them out for in-store use if your shop has that kind of market? I would pay 20$ to have the use of that kind of set-up for a weekend of play, and I think gamers are just the kind of people who would take care of such a set for future gamers.

I just WOULDN'T pay 200$ for it to play through once, and then try to piece-meal the parts together if I wanted to use them later.

2cents...

While I wouldn't pay for the "deluxe" set... I might pay for the "standard" set with counters and something along the lines of the
WorldWorks map pieces.

That would reduce the price significantly since the counters and maps would be made out of paper/card stock.
