D&D 5E Would you consider 5th edition?

Let's see...I'm forty-six. I've been playing D&D since I was 17 or 18 (can't remember exactly). I've liked each new edition of D&D better than the previous edition. I do sigh at having to start all over again with sourcebooks, but I always do.
5e is coming someday. And I already know that I will buy it unless I can't due to health or financial reasons.
I guess that makes me a life-long D&Der. I might be the only one playing in the old-folks-home, but I'll try hard to recruit.

Maybe I'll retire down to Texas (or somewhere else warm) and try to find you to play 7e (or whatever edition we're on at that time_

I honestly expected 4E to be more like Star Wars Saga Edition. If 5E turned out to be like SWSE I would buy it.
Silly me, I expected 4E to streamline 3E and fix what was obviously 'broken.' Instead, it largely created a new system from the ground up. Wha?

4E is the first time I've ever invested money towards the rule books. It will be hard for me to simply let that edition go and start over again.
Of course, what ultimately matters is how the game plays.
I was introduced to D&D during 3.5 and really enjoyed it for a couple years until I realized how much better D&D plays out in 4E. Now I find 3.5 to be nearly unplayable for a variety of reasons.
Realistically, I don't see myself buying books for 5E, rather, I'd likely invest in the cheaper DDI route. If the time comes where 4E feels like a joke compared to a superior edition, I will likely start investing in the books once again.

No way, it's too soon. I need more time to get tired of it. I had all but quit D&D almost a year before 4E was announced.
Whatever flaws 4E has should be fixed. I would buy a fully updated PHB with all of the rules corrections, but not a 5E PHB. D&D isn't perfect, and 5E won't change that.

Having DM'd some 4e, I find myself constantly trying to make other systems equally easy to run. Sometimes with success, sometimes not so much.
4e is an excellent system for a DM.
Yeah, it is rather soon... I guess my favorable reply ought to be tempered: "yes to 5e, but when it's time".

If they announced 5e tomorrow and said it was going to be released in june, I would essentially say "not for me it doesn't"

4E is still pretty new, and though they have come out with a lot of material in the 22 or so months it has been out, I feel there is still a lot of things to do in the system. For what it is worth, it took me 6 months to really learn the system enough to put the numbers and rules in the background and have more fun with it.
I was still having loads of fun with 3.x even 8 years after it started.
It is far too soon for 5E.
