FireLance: Your proposed 'prestige classes' suffer the same problem as Limper's ECL: they are far too weak to provide a significant benefit, and compare poorly with existing classes.

1. Featmaster - every level taken gives one feat. BAB as wizard, all saves poor, 1d4+Con hp, 2+Int skill points, any existing non-exclusive class skills that the character has are class skills.

This gains one more feat every other level than the fighter. However, over those two levels, the fighter has gained an additional +1 BAB, possibly +1 Fort save and six hit points. The fighter will typically trump this class.

2. Skillmaster - BAB as wizard, all saves poor, 1d4+Con hp, 8+Int skill points, all skills including exclusive class skills are class skills.

Compared with the rogue, this is weak. Yes, you get access to all skills, but you lose out on BAB, sneak attack, uncanny rogue, Reflex saves, hit points and (later) high-level rogue abilities. Even the NPC class expert is probably preferable: 2 skill points traded for good Will saves, better BAB and more hit points.

3. Savemaster - BAB as wizard, all saves good, 1d4+Con hp, 2+Int skill points, any existing non-exclusive class skills that the character has are class skills

Useless compared with the monk. You lose two hit points per level, two skill points per level, one category of BAB and a veritable arsenal of special class abilities; in exchange for absolutely nothing.

4. Statmaster - every level taken gives a +1 to any ability score, BAB as wizard, all saves poor, 1d4+Con hp, 2+Int skill points, any existing non-exclusive class skills that the character has are class skills.

Although this has no direct comparison to any other class, one still wonders if this is worthwhile. For a martial character, assuming you boost Strength twice, you only gain a +1 to damage (the +1 to hit is offset by poor BAB) and lose six hit points and one feat. For a spellcaster, you gain +1 DC and lose out on two levels of spellcasting progression (which also subsumes any bonus spells from the higher ability score): effectively you lose one whole spell level. Like I said, comparison with another class is difficult, but I cannot see this being taken extensively (though I suppose someone with an odd primary score may take one level.)

The prestige classr ECL route provide one benefit that class levels don't.... doesn't impose XP penalties.

Granted. But then, if your primary class is favoured for your race, then you can pick your multiclassing such that you minimise the impact of XP penalties. For one, you can take each additional class to at least level two and then add more at no cost.
