I'm considering running a Gameday. Williamsburg is about 1/2 way between Knoxville & Lexington and sits on the border of the midwest and southeastern regions (It's 8 hrs from most of NC). However, I could never run it from my home - WAY too small. I work as an outside consultant for the local tourism commission so I could probably get a cut rate on the space at the local con center which has space for up to 200 (realistically though, maybe 10 games simulataneously. The cost of renting the space would need to be divided over the attendees somehow, most likely by admission.

The price I was quoted by the desk clerk was $400 / day. I can probably get this down somewhat, but it's a good figure to place as a start. At 40 people that's $10 / person / day. Local hotels are very cheap though, starting at $39 / night, so that would help mitigate that.

So I'll kick the question out. Also, I'm thinking of an Octoberish time frame. Who'd be interested?

No.

Besides that, why do you define KY/TN as your little part of it? You are talikng about a region that stretches from the tip-top of Appalachia to the Mississippi River one way, and from where the Scioto meets the Ohio to the Hatchie River bottoms.

This has bothered me since this forum went to post tags, esp regarding GsG.

I voted for the up to $5, but with some conditions.

[rant]Most of the game days I have seen here in Columbus, OH have been *very* disorganized. Unanswered emails, less than informative phone calls, etc. Organization folks! Organization! Make sure there is a schedule of sorts, be clear of what games are planned to be run, have the DMs/GMs lined up ahead of time. If I will be paying money to attend a game day I would be wanting to see at least some organization.[/rant]

Disclaimer: None of that is directed at you Michael, just my thoughts on how much I would pay for a game day. Perhaps I have just been a victim of an unorganized local scene.
