Interested if well done, however, couldn't this be done with the Star Wars game materials? I mean you can chuck the world info and have Cereans as elvish-types; Sullustans as your dwarves, you could use Wookies as a hyped up half-orc... etc...

I'm not saying this isn't a cool idea, I'm just speculating.

It could be done with star wars, but star wars is not OGL. Gotta keep it legal so that publishing is an option. I am just trying to be certain that some interest is waranted so that my friend and I don not spend more time of the project if no body but us wants to play it.

I will get some basics together for everyones perusal in a few days.

NeuroZombie, if Jorune's too alien for you then what you want to do really does sound like Talislanta... see the pdf at www.talislanta.com. (A Tal d20 would be utterly kewl, btw, but SMS is never gonna assent to that.).

For a brand new attempt at an alien setting without human races, see Mechanical Dream at www.steamlogic.com (crappy website, stellar downloads).

EDIT: V, you're an idiot.

Talislanta is a magic-based fantasy setting. I have played it before and although I ike it, that is really not what we are looking to create.

The setting is an alien world. "Magic" is the channeling and manipulation of a natural energy source, a souce that could probably just as easily be harnessed with technology.

The setting will be based upon evolution, pseudo-science, stellar phenomenon that haelped to speed up evolutionary mutations and the like.

Talislanta is pure fantasy, albeit not typical fantasy, filled with fantasy monsters and races. This will be much different. I hope at any rate! :)

As for Talislanta D20: http://members.tripod.com/arosslaw/

A pretty good job too, IMO, but then again its been forever since I read Talislanta so I may be off.

Very interesting. I look forward to reading more about that. Also, if you're looking for (semi-)professional advice you can go through the steel bath at rpg.net, but you probably know that site?
