Would you purchase an expansion, from a different system than you use, to adapt for your preferred system? If yes why?

Absolutely. The way I look at it, even if the mechanics are completely different, you never know what's going to inspire you. Everything I consume gets funneled into my imagination, potentially broadens and/or deepens the ideas I can come up with.

THIS!

Anything around me may be transmogrified into my creative processes for something else.

In the RPG realm alone, I’ve had characters and campaigns based on:

1) Songs by Tony Iommi, Queensryche, BÖC, Yes, Follow For Now, and others

2) miniatures I’ve collected.

3) art & photos I’ve seen in the great museums of the world.

4) books, TV shows & movies

And none of that is a 1 way street.

Now I want to come up with a way to trap my PCs in a roundabout.

But seriously, yes, it's important to have a rich diet of potential inspiration.
