WoW honors Gary

They have gravestones and monuments to former Blizzard programmers and such in-game, so it wouldn't surprise me to see something like that in the patch. Maybe even an NPC or a quest.
They're hard at work on their next expansion. I'm guessing we'll see something appropriate for the first dungeon master in Northrend.

Well those of you who play it, and if you happen to find in-game referance, would you let us know what it is.

It is a nice gesture, but it's not like any proof was needed. Without Gary there would be non WoW at all... :)

I guess you have been lucky enough to miss/avoid all the people who say he had nothing to do with digital games.

Thinking again about it, I must retract my earlier statement. It might be obvious to me and some others, but a lot of people would have no clue.

What kind of benefit would the man most appreciate?

A swarm of beholders suddenly appearing or the council of 8 appearing to hand out items (for like a day) would be cool. Oh so likely to invite a lawsuit but very cool.

For me, it's sort of like Tolkien. If he hadn't been "the guy", someone else probably would have, but he WAS that guy. Giving him his due for being "the guy" that brought Fantasy to the fore is the right thing in my mind, just as crediting Gygax with his achievements is. Sure, if he hadn't done it, someone else may have done it, but there it is...

Anyway, it makes sense to me, that's all that counts. :)

Maybe like this :)

That's as close as WoW gets to beholders. Personally I think some death trap would be a nice tribute. Like a sphere of annihilation that deletes any character that touches it :]

Yeah, but they didn't really need proof; they just needed to actually know something. I mean, the proof was all over the place already---to anyone who knows anything at all about D&D it was pretty self-evident.
