Writers of the Arcane...Maybe you?

V_Shane

First Post
Greetings!
I was planning after having several Artifacts and Vistas card art volumes out; I would let writers have the option to write material based on the Magical Items and/or artwork of the cards I have done. Non exclusive writing oppotunity for those bold enough to create and willing to owe me nothing but a link and user agreement ;)

As a new publisher that is just getting started, I welcome this great idea and congratulate all those that work with V_Shane on this worthy endeavor!

Here, here!!

Looks okay but I don't like that you can unilaterally revoke the license at any time. For fan productions that may be fine but I cannot use that in a real product. I'm sure you aren't out to mess with anyone. But I wouldn't stake a product on that trust.

I understand that you want to prevent people from using your artwork inappropriately but you might take a lesson from the OGL. It spells out what violations are and can revoke itself when violated.

Hope it works out well for those who do use it.

Sorry to hear you won't be particiapating. I guess I feel its pretty simply put forward. The artwork is intended as Thumbnails and to be used as such in any referencing product and to reference the volume they come from and where to get that volume and nothing more. Nothing threatening there, plus the changing or revoking would have to be pretty blatant violation like trying to call my work thier own or trying to re-sell the original PDF art etc... the liscense is given forward in good faith, fellowship and common sense. I would hope no one would go out of thier way to abuse something so simple, and straightforward.

I believe you. But your license doesn't say that. It says you can alter and revoke it at any time. So I shall not put my backside on the line. It's my personal decision. I'm sure others will do otherwise. I mean no offense. I'm just saying why the license isn't right for me.

OTOH, the artwork has made me interested in buying your products where I had no intention before so you at least gained a customer.

It seems to me that a couple of small publishers like yourselves could work out a special license that works for both of you. Considering that I'm a big fan of both of your works, I'd sure like to see it!

And V_Shane, I noticed that Arcane Creations and Artifact of the Arcane are both "Hot sellers" on RPGNow. Congrats! (BTW, if you don't mind, what does that mean in sales?)

I think it means over 100 sales. But you should ask James.

Hot Sellers

As near as I can determine Hot Sellers is items that are currently selling more units. At one time it was a weekly measurement, then monthly . . . I'm not sure what it uses now.

So if 500 items on RPGNow each sell 1 item, four sell 2, one 8, and one 12 (in the week or month time period) the Hot Sellers list would be:

12
8
2
2
2
2
1
1
1

Units selling the same number of units are listed in alphabetical order.

Now it's possible I'm very wrong. This is just what I can determine from watching the charts.
