Writers Wanted: d20 prestige classes

TheLe

First Post
The Le Games is seeking Prestige Classes submissions for their d20 Fantasy line of books: Unorthodox Classes

The format of each submission should look like this (without images):
http://www.thele.com/thelegames/files/TLG_PRC_Format.pdf

All game mechanics should be d20 (v3.5) compatible, and should ONLY come from the SRDs:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35

So, even if you find a cool mechanic in another OGL book, don't use it. Use the SRDs above and/or use your own imagination and other pop culture sources of inspiration.

For Progression charts and Spell charts, you may use the charts in the SRDs.

Payment is $3.50 per submission, made via paypal, paymate, or business check -- Paypal preferred and will allow you to get paid faster. The submitter will be properly credited in any book the class is used in. The submitter will receive any pdf book of his or her choice from our library, for free: http://www.rpgnow.com/default.php?manufacturers_id=507

To apply, send 1 submission to TheLeGames@yahoo.com. In the subject, please put "PrC - NameOfYourClass". If it is approved, a contract will be sent out. Once signed, payment will be sent. After that, the author may submit more submissions (no further contract signatures required). Payment will be made after every accepted and approved submission -- I am very prompt with payment. The contract will specify that The Le Games gains all rights to the final approved submissions. All game mechanics are designated as OGC upon publication.

Payment and Ownership rights are non-negotiable.

Submissions can be in flat text, word-pad, MS-Word format, or sitting in the body of your email. Times New Roman, 11-12 pt font. Don't mess with format just to pad your submission to make it bigger, because I convert it all to 11pt Times New Roman when I read it anyway.

Summary
Needed: d20 fantasy Prestige Classes (prC)
Req: 5-10 level PrCs
Format: MS Word, notepad, or flat text
Length: Up to you. give it your best.
Payment: $3.50 per submission, via paypal, paymate, or business check
Send to: TheLeGames@yahoo.com

This is an ongoing open call.

General questions can be posted here (or directly emailed to me).

Just for clarity's sake, and to keep you from receiving redundant or useless submissions:

Which Unorthodox class books are still in productions, and thus require PrCs?

I'd hate to pass in a Rogue PrC only to find out that you've already published Unorthodox Rogues.

Good Question

Good Call. The following books are slated for 2005, and prestige classes that apply to these books will be considered first:
-Unorthodox Knights
-Unorthodox Witches
-Unorthodox Paladins
-Unorthodox Sorcerers
-Unorthodox Wizards
-Unorthodox Far East (samurai, ninjas etc)
-Unorthodox Pirates

That being said, I will consider any Prestige Classes that you wish to submit. Even if you have one that does not fit one of the books mentioned above, if it is good then I will accept it (and reserve it for a future book).

F.A.Q.

The submissions are looking very good so far, but I am seeing two common problems with them.

Example:
Evasion (Ex): At 2nd level and higher, a rogue can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the rogue is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless rogue does not gain the benefit of evasion.

1) A lot of people are forgetting to designate the ability as (Ex) or (Su).

2) A lot of people are forgetting to put in "at 2nd level". Remember, customers don't like to check progression charts every time they read about an ability. Here are some different ways these can be worded:

-Uncanny Dodge (Ex): Starting at 4th level,

-Trap Sense (Ex): At 3rd level,

-Improved Uncanny Dodge (Ex): A rogue of 8th level or higher

-Special Abilities: On attaining 10th level,

-My personal favorite: Strong Charge (Ex): The Battle Knight has learned how to make his blows count when first engaging his foes. At 10th level, the Battle Knight gains a +2 bonus to damage when charging.

Feel free to mix them up. But if any of these two things are not on the submission, I will email you back and ask you to put them in.

Thanks.

It seems I had a poor choice of words in my original posts.

Please feel free to submit any Prestige Classes you want, not just the ones for upcoming books. I am getting a lot of submissions for Knights, Witches, and Paladins. (If you already in the middle of writing for one of these, by all means go ahead and submit it).

You don't have to stick with these though. Just pick a concept and go with it. More importantly HAVE FUN WITH IT.

I would love to see a Jack Sparrow / Pirates of the Caribbean prestige class. Or how about a Jackie Chan Drunken Master prC? Or a Wesley Snipes Blade prC? How about a Legolas type prC? An Incredible Hulk type prC perhaps?

Other ideas: Groo the wanderer, Gilderoy Lockhart (Harry Potter), Presto (D&D cartoon), Lei Wulong (tekken), etc

The possibilities are endless. Stick with d20 type mechanics and give it a good D&D flavor; remember that you have lots of creative freedom. Most important of all though: have fun with it.

Are you by any chance looking for any psionic prestige classes?

Also, check your example under Class Skills. It says "Drive Archer". Now I've heard of drive-by shootings, but this is a whole new category! ;)
