Anyway, for those interested, Anthony Beevor's Stalingrad is one of the most well-researched books on the topic which was written for a general audience. Beevor is a military historian who speaks German and Russian and did extensive research, including numerous interviews, in both countries and on both sides to complete the book. It's very readable and give's a good feel of what the soldiers' point of view was like, on both sides.
I'm hoping that The Fall of Berlin offers more of the same. It's supposed to go into detail on the sacking of the city by the often vengeful Russian troops.
