Wyvern Concept Design

I like the William O'Connor one, myself, whether its for 4E or not.
Yeah, O'Connor's pwns...

Though, it is reminiscent of the Hungarian Horntail dragon from Harry Potter 4, but I suppose that is Rowling's/WB's fault for making her/their dragons look like wyverns :/

If that's a 4E redesign, it makes me happy, because unlike the other ones we've seen so far, I'd actually consider this an upgrade. And I'd fully expect the wyvern to be one of the monsters to receive a facelift, so I hope this is it.

cheers

I'm beginning to hate the word "wyvern" with all my heart. It seems that wherever I look, there's that f*****g word, waiting for me to read it... :(

I used to live on Wyverne Road. How do you think I feel?
Americans spell it wrong to boot!

the 3.* one was one of the failures of the MM illustrations.

I think quite a few monsters are much more deem of the "failure" word than the wywern illo. Think about Morgh, allip, hell hound or vampire spawn...
However, I agree : this wywern is better.

I'm always amused by the 3.0 Tarrasque, where the colourer's misinterpreted the line drawing and put the eyes where the ears were intended to be.

That wyvern makes 2 monster illustrations I've seen that have a clear positive image in my head. The gargoyle in the latest trog picture has me thrilled too.

I don't recall the dryad. I'll have to look that one up.
