Wyvern Mounts and the like

I don't have a sauce ;) for it but:

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

To me it seems like a re-wording of a Tolkein line (but it could be from almost anywhere actually). Given the various version of it (Check Felix's slightly different one) it probably is re-worded.

Looks like there are several versions of the "you are good with ketchup meme floating around" particularly I was referring to John Ringo's Against the Tide. Where upon hearing that the dragon carriers are running low on ketchup one of the characters makes a comment to the effect of

'forget a naval battle if the wyverns don't get their ketchup it will really start to get bad'

Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. J. R. R. Tolkien

well that certainly helps a lot. Thanks guys.

and on a side note: screw critical ones! I have been trying to convince our DM that we should play with the critical table but not the critical fumble table (its more epic anyhow, nobody wants to 'accidentally' kill their friend cause they botched a roll.)

As for the mount i've decided that a nice black and maroon Magebred hippogriff would be better anyways. Although i'm still gonna take a look at the arms and equipment guide for stuff too.

It is ridiculously expensive to armor a mount... even sticking with light armor you are pretty much forced to get normal material armor then get it magically enhanced. If i wanted to get medium mithral armor (it counts as light) then its like +4000 or something like that... combine that with the cost for a large non-humanoid creature (x4 cost, x2 weight) and you have yourself an extremely expensive piece of non-magical armor. Its even worse if you try to get light adamantine armor :\

So i'm just going to armor it with Masterwork Chain or studded leather (final costs 700/1000)

one last thing... its not included in the skills for armor check penalties. But how does flight work with that?

Flight only works with light armor and a light load. course in Races of the Dragon there are some feats that are intended for half-dragon characters and such that up the load that can be carried while flying might check them out and see if the DM would let you modify one for your mount
