X-Men 3: Who's looking forward to it? [Possible Spoilers]

I'm glad to see Beast and Angel appearing, but definitely wish that Cyclops could get a little more than he has the past two movies.

Now see, I couldn't stand the guy who played him in the first two movies. If they're going to cast some pretty boy without the chops, I would prefer they not put him center stage.

And another thing: perusing the IMDB page, it seems the only main villain this time around is Magneto (Mystique and Juggernaut are there too, but they're usually just flunky villains). I love Ian McKellan and I love the Magneto character, but this is just getting lazy. The X-Men comics have a pretty deep bullpen of villains, and ones that have close ties to the main characters too. I'm thinking Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister, the Sentinels. Magneto does not have to show up in every film.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll be seeing it. I just would have rather they gone in a very different direction. Adding a buttload of new characters when there were already almost too many and a plot that sounds like another "plot to get rid of mutants" just isn't stoking my fire.

See I had heard it the other way. I heard he didn't want to do the part again if he had to go through all the make up and such. Apperantly he had a hard time with it, and I really can't blame him. I guess they opted not to recast the part in the off chance he came back.

I've never heard of any actor that didn't complain about 4 hours of make-up. Alan Cumming was talking positively about X3 in January and February of this year. Some of the other actors were being negative about Bryan Singer leaving at that time. He had even set back the start of a Broadway show to have time for the filming. His official site said that Fox did not pick up his option. He was obligated under contract to do a second movie if they picked up his option.

There can always have been more going on behind the scenes, but it doesn't change my dissapointment that Nightcrawler isn't in X3.

Don't get me wrong I disapointed as well that Nightcrawler is not in it this around. :(

Bigger the cast gets, more cameos they try to squeeze in, the less hopeful I am for the pic.

Movies live and die by character interaction and development. Divide your attention too many ways and it sinks.

Also because they might be trying to fulfill the wishes of too many fans. I mean, in X2, when they had the "cameo" by the Beast/Dr. Hank McCoy, that was great, but this...

That damn near sunk X2. FURTHER expansion of the roster for X3 worries me greatly.

And give me Mr Sinister as the villain dammit. Magneto is an amazing character, but as has been said, the X-Men have a great roster of villains. Reach into that for a bit.

It all depends on how the Magneto storyline is handled - if it's done well, having him around is a positive thing, since it adds depth to the story.

It's also a good thing if the writers stay consistent with the fiction that has been established so far. This is the movie X-Men universe... We've had no hint of all the space travel, dimensional travel, time travel, multiple alien races, etc. that crop up in the comics, or that other super-villains besides from Magneto exist. (you'd think they'd have had something to say during the attempts to wipe out all humanity or all mutant-kind in X2, unless they were really shy or incompetent) Just throwing in any odd villain because he exists in the comics isn't going to work, unless it's set up well.

That, and it's so much fun watching Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in those roles, together, I really don't mind them keeping Magneto regardless of what they do with the character. Or Mystique, unless they changed her... costume. ;)
