[Xbox] I have an awesome wife

When you bought Morrowind I hope you bought the Game of the Year Edition. The load times are bad but since it has the two PC expansions added on its worth it.

Best RPG I have ever played in my life. The sheer freedom and vastness of the world are just awesome. Even KotOR, which is a sweet game, just can't touch the freedom of Morrowind.

I would be willing to upgrade but I'm wondering do the saves from the original version work in the Game of the Year version?

The only problem with GotY edition is that the load times when you die or start a new game seem to be horrendous compared to the original. I have also heard it locks up more. I haven't noticed any extra lockup, although when you move into new areas the game does pause a bit longer than original Morrowind as it loads.

But you can play your original Morrowind saved characters in GOTY edition.

I also bought the hefty strategy guide and I think its worth it. You don't need it but some of quests can be a little obscure without. I usually use it only when I get stuck.

I must say though, the strategy guide is very well written and almost reads like a story as it walks you through the game. I think with a little work you could use the info in the strategy guide as the basis for a pretty cool D&D campaign. I really enjoy reading a lot of the backstory about some of the different quests.

Oh yes. Both were available, but I bought the GotY because of the expansions.

I've played both about the same, and I have to agree with you. I have prior Elder Scrolls for my PC, and thought the options and vastness were amazing. Morrowind doesn't seem to be any different.

I like the vastness and options but hate the leveling, skill mechainics. Also fighting seems way screwed over magic. I haven't tried stealth yet, but it may also be screwed compared to magic.

Not a big deal for me since I prefer magic but still its something I noticed.

What did you get her?
The two main items were a Dumbo snow-globe and South Park Season 3. There were a lot of smaller items as well that she's been wanting...she likes her knick-knacks.

If it's not too late to chime in, I'll second Morrowind and KotOR for Xbox, and verify that as fun and soul-stealing as Morrowind GotY is, it locks up very, VERY much, and at some freaking inopportune times. Save after every quest point, if you can stand it.

For strategy, I'm rushing right out to try Goblin Commander.
