Maybe he's expanded his castle? Does anyone know how long has supposed to have passed since the original expedition to Castle Ravenloft and the return to it. And I mean in game terms, not in how many years have passed since the original adventure was released.

I'm QUITE drooling. I wanna run this as a 1 shot (per the ToC posted elsewhere) on the Halloween weekend. Please drive faster, distributors' truckers, please......! :(

This isn't Return to Castle Ravenloft, it's Expedition. The interview in Dragon explicitly says this is a remake of I6, not a sequel. (It also says the module authors are very aware of the module's history and legacy, so I'd expect nods to the setting, etc., even if the book doesn't present it as the Demiplane of Dread.)

For me this is the demi-plane of dread. The poisonous clouds are the "doorway" around the "plane". Those can be a doorway from anywhere, subject to the whims of the malevolent powers of the demiplane (IE the DM).

So when I have Ravenloft "exist" in whichever campaign world I am using it in, such as GH, FR, Wilderlands, and now Erde, I just consider part of Ravenlofts "special uniqueness" is that it exists simultaneously on multiple planes/worlds across the planes of existance. Which keeps Strahd happy, plenty of fresh blood.

The only reason I would've given for the Castle looking larger than the village would have been perspective. The Castle is over a thousand feet higher than the village and therefore closer to the viewer. However, they put a scale bar on the map. So even that explanation does not make sense.

I like the map. I mean I really like the map, and by like I mean I can't wait to get my hands on this adventure.
