XP for a dream battle - yes/no?

My entire current 4e campaign is a set of shared dreams.

The characters get experience (and shared powers between different incarnations of themself) for shared dreams.

So, my answer is something along the lines of "Yes, super-yes!"

Can't say I'd be miffed if I didn't get experience, although the game I'm a player in now simply doesn't award experience. But it's white wolf.

Yeah, I'd give out exp. I'd also include exp from treasure, even though they don't get to keep the imaginary treasure. (unless they have it in the next dream combat, hmm...)

Speaking purely practically...

If you don't give XP for it, prepare for your players to taunt you before every fight in the future with "Hey, is this a dream? How about this?" ;)

(Whether or not it was a shared dream, if it got played out at the table, I'd award XP for it.)

Thanks guys. Now I just have to work out some sort of rules basis for the shared dream :)

I know they'll start saying it's impossible without 9th level spell this-or-that, and I just want to tell a story.

Maybe the xp will keep them quiet!
