Ok so I have a evil lvl 3 cleric that can Control Undead instead of turn and has the Domain of Fire.
So as on page 140 of the PHB under Commanding.
A Evil cleric can command a undead with more HD then his lvl as long as he is not commanding any other Undead. So this guy could command a Specter as it is 7 HD and he can turn 3+4 on a max turn roll and since they state you can command a single Undead that is more HP then your lvl he can do this.
Now I know that you do not give xp for summoned creatures. Do you give xp for commanded creatures?
Now look at this as a PC.
What xp does a PC get when he is using say the Fire Domain power to Command a Fire Elemental of more HD then his lvl? Say a lvl 4 cleric commanding a 8 HD Fire Elemental. The this is a CR 5 and has a +10/+5 attack doing 2d6+3 and 2d6 fire on each hit and DR of 10/+1. A PC could Mop the floor of most things at his CR with this.
Also what if the Cleric had the Earth Domain as well. He could have TWO Elementals of 8 HD to fight for him. This from a lvl 4 Cleric.
