[XRP] 2007 State of XRP Address

First Post

It's January once again, a time for reflection, and projection. 2006 was a good year for Expeditious Retreat Press on many fronts. We released A Magical Society: Silk Road, our fourth title in the Magical Society Line as well as a revamped second printing of A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe (which sold out of its original print run at the end of 2005). Monster Geographica saw the release of its fifth and final title along with the custom Counter Collections from Fiery Dragon Productions, and a new line was born: 1 on 1 Adventures. We produced our first True20(tm) product Liber Artefactorum and began producing OSRIC(tm) material. On the e-front, we had more products in Seeds, an adventure-builder line, and began World Building Library, a series of articles for the creators in us all.

In addition to our growth in production, we expanded our distribution, took home a silver metal for Best Adventure at the ENnies Awards, and had our best Gen Con Indy ever. All in all, XRP experienced major growth in 2006.

So what's the future look like? What's in store for XRP in 2007? Unfortunately, we will not be releasing a new Magical Society book this year. Our next Magical Society book is big--real big-- and we will anticipate a 2008 release. However, that does not mean we are slowing down in 2007. We have more action-packed titles in store for 1 on 1 Adventures, as well as OSRIC(tm) adventures for the old-schoolers. We are releasing more True20(tm) material, including the Lands of Nevermore and the thrilling adventure creator Joseph Miller ran at Gen Con Indy 2006. We have more Seeds, more issues of Old-School Gazette, and more World Building Libraries in store for 2007. We are adding new titles to an old line, Party of One, inspired by a dedicated fan who took the time to stop by our booth at Gen Con to tell us how much he enjoyed the first title, Party of One: Leda. And as the saying goes, "civility must be rewarded." We are also embarking on a new line, Pozas Art Packs, producing affordable, quality stock art with the talented Claudio Pozas.

In addition to expanding XRP, Joe and I have embarked on a new project, www.YourGamesNow.com, a cooperatively-run sales site for electronic products designed with tabletop gaming in mind. What does this mean for our fellow games publishers and customers? Publishers selling product at www.YourGamesNow.com have the benefits of a multi-vendor environment with nigh-direct-sales profit margin, and customers who shop at www.YourGamesNow.com are supporting publishers in a more direct fashion while also benefiting from a mall environment. To celebrate the launch, we are releasing a new XRP product every 3 days in January and February. Stop by www.YourGamesNow.com, shop, and help support your favorite publishers.

Good Gaming,
Joe and Suzi

Every Good wish! + Req: Page numbers

I wish you every success broadening the customer choice of vendors. I really think you deserve high marks for your initiative.

Can I make a request for page number information with each of your items for sale. I know its not perfect and not a reliable measure of quality but its better than most. A 37 meg download could be one page and a really big add. Since we can't handle the merchandise, I like to at least gauge how long it will take me to read.

Also can I assume you dont watermark the PDFs? I wont buy a watermarked pdf.

Thanks for your well wishes. As for watermarking, we do not have site-wide policy either way. Members supply the downloadable product, and they choose whether or not to watermark. XRP does not watermark, and I will bring up on our boards that at least 1 PDF purchaser requested for non-watermarked PDFs.

Adding page count is a good idea, and I'll also bring it up with our members.

Along that lines, i know that the intent isn't to 'copy' the other guy, but please make it just a tad easier to separate d20 products (d20 modern vs d20 Fantasy).

it's the #1 reason i didn't shop at enworld...because i could never find what I wanted. Luckily the other guys have a full section of d20 modern easily sub-genred for browsing.

However on your site, I still have to go thru the regular d20 link, and there are sub-d20 genres for modern/future/etc. Please group them so that you can see all modern releases, with subcategories for the future/past/arcana/etc categories.

Thanks. :)

Right now we only have a few d20 modern and d20 future products. As our selection grows we'll the larger master categories with detailed subdivisions that you're interested in (such as you see with d20 in general) to make it easier to find something particular in a large grouping of products.
