Xvarg

I've just uncovered a creature called an "Xvarg" in the 1999 product Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Game. They are described as small, cruel and cowardly humanoids that serve as go-betweens for warring goblin and kobold clans.

An introductory D&D set seems like a strange place to introduce a new creature, but I can't find any other reference to the xvarg. Has anyone else heard of these guys?

Interesting. The description uses the word "xvarg" twice, in addition to the title, so it is very consistent typo. But I do agree that xvargs are the same creatures as xvarts. (And I think they were originally called "svarts" in White Dwarf.)

Also in that set is a "vampire, lesser" and a generic "pudding, deadly". Those are names for creatures that don't seem to be used elsewhere. I wonder why they didn't just call them "vampire" and "black pudding"?

Dead right, 2E listed things as "Pudding, Deadly, Black". But this boxed set only lists "Deadly Pudding" without specifying which type of pudding it actually is. As far as I can tell, it's the only product that does so.

heh! does it resemble an actual other type? like could it be the black pudding misnamed?
Could be an amalgam of all the other puddings ;)

Actually that gives me an idea - the marbled pudding (or pudding mixture)- just need some stats :)

The marble pudding appears on p79 of Dragon #251 and hasn't yet been updated
