It is likely to be in an old dragon magazine, but for my own games Gnolls pronounce it in a howling motion like so.
YEEEEEEEE-noeg- HUUUU. This is an attempt at drawing thier demon lord/patron deity's notice/ favor whem preparing to make a particulary brutal kill. not something the gnolls do lightly but my players know to run when they hear that howl.

That's pretty good (but how do you pronounce noeg?)

For my campaign I'll probably say Yee-Nog-Hu if it comes up, but you never know with gh combinations, is it a FF sound like in enough, silent as in though, etc. When in doubt I usually make every letter count.

I was very surprised when I found out the Celtic hero Chuchulain is pronounced Coo Hailen and not Chew Chew Lane.:)
