You and your dice...

I would use the new dice. My luck is such that I always roll high when it doesn't matter (initiative, I hate going first!!) and low when it does matter. ;p

I'll try anything to get that to reverse!

All my dice are blue, or white/crystal. That's a longstanding tradition that (I think) is fairly obvious to anyone who games with me. I still have most of the dice I bought myself when I was 13-14 (Zocci Dice!) some 30 years ago, and that's when the blue tradition began.

I did receive a gift once, of some teeny tiny pearl-white dice. I like them and they're in my set, but I rarely use them. I'd LOVE a set of Jumbo dice... (old eyes are the pits).

One of my players has a big box o dice and loves picking out a themed set for each PC she runs. We're about to start a pathfinder campaign playing twin sister characters with draconic bloodline (blue), so blue may become a character theme as well as a dice theme...

I would use the gift dice for a few sessions at least, regardless of whether I liked them or not. It would just be the polite thing to do.

Whether they saw any long term use would be determined by how readable the were and how cool they looked. I hate dice that you can't clearly read the numbers off of. If the dice weren't easy to read then I wouldn't really like to use them.

As for any superstitions or anything like that, I don't really have any. Heck, up until the start of this year I only had 1 complete dice set. The rest of my dice were just a mish-mash of single dice that I had bought over the years.

Then I went on a bit of a buying spree. I think I now have about 15 7-dice sets. I use my 2 favourite sets regularly in the game I DM. The rest will either be given out as gifts or used when I actually play instead of DM. I figure I'll use a different set for each PC I play.
