The Lost Symphony of Johannas Machen This folded piece of high-quality vellum is a professionally scribed invitation to and program for the debut performance of the last work of the legendary bard Johannes Machen, a pianist of epic caliber. It is said that he literally put his heart and soul into his performance that night, as immediately after the last note faded away he laid his head down upon his piano and died. Regardless of how it happened, the work he performed that night was so beautiful that not only could each member of the audience remember it until their dying day as if they were truly living through it again, but the programs handed out that night became imbued with some kind of magic. The actual musical score he had written, however, was discovered to now be completely blank. When the program is opened, the music Johannes Machen played that night begins to flow out of it, just as it flowed out of Johannes, with the exact same quality of sound. Anyone within hearing distance is completely enraptured for the entire length of the symphony and incapable of any action other than sitting quietly and listening, or closing the program. Closing the program causes the music to fade slowly away and stop. Only two dozen of the programs from that night still exist, and are considered treasures of immense value to their owners. No one has yet successfully managed to transcribe the Lost Symphony from listening to it being played from the program, both because it is so beautiful that it can barely be comprehended, and because there has never been a bard since then of Johannes Machen's talent. Next item: a small 1-inch-diameter sphere made of a strange metal... It weighs nearly ten pounds.
