Isn't this the plot of Blair Witch II? Basically they took much alcohol and/or mari jane (plus influence from the Witch) and couldn't remember they did "horrible stuff" (like wrecking camp and killing each other one by one).

If your players are ok with a railroad, you could say the players can't remember anything. They are now accused of murder (scratches and blood on their body). Now they have to find they were framed. Cliche, but it works.
