Your Ethics as a Role Player!

One of mine is don't get mad at the person, get mad at the PC...when I play, I role play, I never cheat or kill another PC, but if I am a flirty, wise cracking bard (hmmmm guess what I am playing now:D ) then deal with it and have fun...get offended in game, not in RL. This does not happen often, but I do enjoy getting into character, so have fun and enjoy!!!!

Some of these may repetitive, but...

1) Endeavour to make sure everyone has a good time each session.
2) Don't cheat.
3) Keep game issues and RL issues separate.
4) Share snacks and beverages -- this one is important :D !
5) Avoid arguments wherever possible.
6) Keep things in perspective and have a sense of humor about what occurs during the session -- it IS a game after all.
7) Don't play a character (or include an NPC) whose primary motivation is to irritate and annoy the other party members.
8) Act as your PC would according to each situation...not as you'd like them to in an effort to save their skin :) .
9) Don't use other people's dice...ever. And don't use their books without asking for permission first.
10) Coasters and napkins are important if you wish to retain friends ;) .

I follow all the rules that Valicor has listed. The only one I really need to work on is arriving on time.

A large percentag of time real-world life offers intrusions on my game-day, but I DO call ahead and let the group know where I am and why I'm late, and what time I expect to be free.

The most important things are:

-do not let conflict disrupt the game, and
-make sure everyone has a chance to shine.

I have learned these lessons through hard experience in the past.

I agree Henry@home, sometiems i have trouble making it on time aswell, for the most part i am not more then 20 minutes late. The other thign that kinda gets under my skin is when we are on a time limit we sometimes get side tracked to easily, well we always get side tracked. But hey the side tracking stuff is part of our fun, so who am i to complain.

I never attack players. Most of them carry pointy things like pencils, or things they can throw, like dice.

I laughed out loud at this one...thank god I was alone:D
Thanks Vax...that cracked me up.

Dojo Kun

It's just as applicable outside of the dojo:

-Seek perfection of character.
-Be faithful.
-Endeavor to excel.
-Respect others.
-Refrain from violent behaviour.

Okay, maybe not that last one so much (in character)... :D

Has this policy managed to work for you in games or has it sometimes lead to problems where you wish you should have said soemthing, I only ask out of curiosity.

sometimes disputes can be settled without argument..
