I found it defective for this reason:

I don't mind dragons. I don't mind half dragons.
I just wish they'd stop mating with darn lowly hobgoblins.
Hobgoblins deserve to be templated undead, not dragons.

I find half-or-near-dragon hobgoblins to be the main "defective" element, but not because I'm bored of hobgoblins (pretty interesting and underused, as humanoid races go) or dragons, but because the idea of half-dragon is just plain silly to me. Totally "gamey", as in it makes sense in the rules set (of 2nd Edition or higher, I guess), but it makes no sense at all to me mythologically or, dare I say, biologically.

Hobgoblins with undead leadership -- better yet, SECRETLY undead leadership, that would work fine for me.

If you cross a vampire with a hobgoblin and got a villain, that'd be "different" without being "gamey". WOTC seems to like gamey, though. :\

I'm DMing the RHoD at the moment and I've got to say I love it.

I've found it relatively easy enough to adapt to Eberron and I'm even sprinkling in some ToB levels and abilities into the bad guys.

I#d recommend buying it.

I'm also totally pumped about the Eberron 5th through 10th adventure. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be buying that baby as soon as it comes out!!!

I think Red Hand of Doom is great. The best WOTC 3.5 adventure.

Does it have its issues? Yes.

Does it require a GM who is able to free-lance when necessary and won't force players to follow the plot? Yes.

Does it require a GM to role-play characters even when the module only gives limited NPC motivation information? Yes. (But all WOTC modules are like this).

Does it have some encounters that are very easy and some that are very difficult. Yes (and this is actually a good thing to have a variety of difficulty levels).
