Your favorite class and race and other things.

Just a few fun questions.

1 what is your favorite combination in class and race?

2 what would you suggest for new players to be?

3 what is your favorite fighting style/weapon?

I dont know what my fav. class and race are, probably human fighter.

I usually say that a new player should start as Human(don't worry about abillity changes) and Fighter or Barbarian.(Simple slash and hack style with an NPC as somthing smarter to keep them in line.)

I like to be smart, but I'm really not, so I usually wind up as the brute in the groupe.

Yea, but what do you do when a totally new guy wants to be rouge, and dosn't know when he should search for traps, or when to us spot, or search, or decides that noone can kill him and goes berserking? It is probably the most anoying thing to me.

(by the way, what do the reviews mean at the bottom by the avatar?)

I teach him. A player can "beserk" with any character, it is about teaching the person how to play that solves that.

EN World has a review data base and the revies num,ber is the number of reviews a person has posted. If you have not posted any it doesn't even show up since most people would have zero

1) I like half-orc assassins, but all sorts of race and class combinations trip my trigger.

2) If the DM pre-makes the PC, I think you ought to hand the newbies a half-elf sorcerer. Tell them to steer clear of the monsters and be ready to use one of their spells. In the modern era of elaborate skill systems, attacks of opportunity, and whatnot, I think a 1st level sorcerer is probably easier than any other class to actually play.

3) I like 2-fisted rapier and dagger swashbuckling. Just swinging a bigass axe is also cool.

Ok, sorry, you don't know my players, they usually don't learn. Took ME about a week to learn, I'm kinda emaressed bout that one.:heh:

Ok, sorry to bother this topic again, but what do you review?

1. Dwarven Fighter or Dwarven Cleric, though my favorite class is Scout and combo there would probably be Human, but I've never played one, so I can't really say in practice.

2. Whatever they want? I have no problems helping a new player out with their class abilities and whatnot. I'd make clear the complexities of spellcasting classes, but it's not my job to tell them what they will have the most fun playing. And learning on the fly is, IMO, part of the fun, anyway.

3. I like two-weapon fighting styles, like my halfling warrior with two hand axes and the like. I also (apparently contrary to popular opinion judging by the opinions on the Feat Survivor thread) like the sword and shield style, two-weapon fighting again. I just like the image of a warrior fighting through a horde of bad guys using the shield more as a weapon than a means of defense.

Half-elven bards with delusions of swashbuckling rapier-and-dagger grandeur.

Reviews are of pretty much any pen-and-paper gaming publication, both electronic and print, plus other miscellaneous gaming tools. Generally not software other than programs geared towards playing the P&P game (eg ETools).

If you click on the 'Site Menu' at the top of the page, there is an entry for Reviews.

Not a problem, I review role playing books. Mostly d20 and D&D stuff but every now and again I branch out a little. Here is the review site:

Anyone is free to write a review forit. WE do ask that you read over some of the other reviews to get a feel for it. We do require them to be a certain length and to have good content and not just a "This Rocks!!".
