Your favorite PC? ... Priceless

I'm a pretty friendly bloke, and I'd let him use my character for free.
However, since he doesn't know that, screw the jerk and hold out for more.

Too many undefined variables for a meaningful answer. Depends on the character, the campaign, the "buyer", the cash value offered, etc. I mean, ALL characters that I play are my favorites at the time I play them. I never move PC's from one campaign to another as I've seldom seen it work well and I personally prefer to create NEW characters and adventures rather than try to replay past glories.

Since I don't have a problem rolling up a new character if my current character DIES, I don't particularly care if I instead SELL/RENT the character to a stranger/new player for cash. What would almost certainly bother me is WHY someone would want to try to "borrow" the fruits of my imagination rather than exercise his own.

Then of course there's the proviso from the DM that whatever happens "counts as part of my PC's continuity". What kind of obnoxious dillweed is this DM of mine to insist on something like that, much less roll over for people at the table playing Let's Make a Deal with their PC's? What kind of campaign is that going to result in? The entire affair would instantly drop my respect for the DM through the floor and place the motivations of the "buyer" under immediate suspicion.

But then are we talking merely profane amounts of money or truly obscene?
