I've played lots of wizards. None of them ever donned a pointy hat and robes. Many carried swords, were over 6' tall, and/or had positive Str modifiers.

I have been developing the concept of a Dwarven Lumberjack, a Ranger/Fighter type who roams the aspen forests of the mountains, sundering trees for fun and profit, much to the dismay of the tree-hugging druids and elves.

I love half-orc sorcerers. I can't tell you why, I just do. Just the picture of the tusked humanoid, in a flowing cloak of charisma, leaning on his magical staff, it really works for me.

Halflling rogue. But I don't mean happy go lucky, pickpocketing little mischief makers. I mean a three foot tall guy in a broad-brimmed hat wearing brass knuckles, who talks with a Cockney or Bostonian accent. "It would be a shame if somethin' were to ... happen to your little wizard tower, wouldn't it?"

Warlock that teeters on the edge of good and evil (in terms of methodology), without actually going to one side or the other. Most Warlocks are either the standard stereotype (super-evil), or the neo-standard stereotype (super-good... along the lines of good drow). Mine is a nice person, and he doesn't like evil creatures, but... well, he doesn't have a lot of moral compunctions, I should say. He looted a city full of murdered kobolds, reasoning "they didn't have any use for the money any more". He beat an orc within an inch of its life with his bare hands (I should mention at this point that the Warlock is a Gnome...), even AFTER getting the information he wanted from it. He lacks... scruples, I suppose.

Imagine Antonio Banderas as a suave halfling paladin ladykiller. Although he was a perfect gentleman of few words, most of those words will live on forever in our “wackiest of D&D” quotebook. Man, that was a fun character to play. And yes, I do miss the groupies. ;)

A dwarf who doesn't have a Scottish accent.

A drow that isn't an angst-monkey.

A gnome that isn't so obnoxious I want to rip off his head and :) :) :) :) down his neck.

A halfling that is chubby, loves creature comforts, and has hairy feet.

The civilisationist druid. This "druid" is in fact a cultivated urban gentleman that wants to domesticate nature for the sake of civilisation, controlling it through the same deep understand that makes other druids embrace it or use it as weapon. He builds parks, establishes gardens, trains animals and fights threads to his beloved city by calling on the power of nature.

we have one of those in our groups... kinda

I always liked the larger then life barbarian that likes tiny animals and doesn’t like hurting things. Is always careful not to stop on creatures smaller then him, but if anyone hurts his fuzzy friands .... whoo..... watch out.

I had an elven wizard with a mule companion that was a riot to play. Was in a group that always seemed to be rushing as fast as they can through any dungeon, kill loot repeat kind of thing. He tended to stay back as they rushed ahead, taking it slow, wandering the halls as they would enter rooms, talking to the mule the whole time. As they would rush on to the next room he would glance around where they had been, usualy finding things they had missed avoiding traps they never bothered to check for, all the while munching on the various food stuffs and exoticspices and such he kept on the mule. I am gona have to break him out again now that this thread has reminded me of him.
