Your First magical Item

"Anna-Lhach" a simple +1 (eqiv) sword, that was part of the starting equipment of another PC in MERP. the group was getting massacred due partially to bad rolling in a fight we should have done fine in, (MERP is all about Critcal Hits) The other PC died, after catching on fire, I reached into the fire and grabbed his sword, then I was all criticals. The pommel branded my hand, but the rest of us got out alive. The sword was thereby named, in Toliken elvish - "Gift of the Leaping Flame"

I was playing in the Against the Giants campaign and we had found a +1 sword of vampiric regeneration [We did a lot more in that campaign than fight giants, which is needed]. I felt uber using it until it kept getting us in trouble. It was Chaotic and nature and not at all controlled by me. Sometimes the vampiric regen would stop working and I would have to flee. A couple times, even when we were in bad spots or injured, the sword would curse at passing giants in giant, causing us to battle even when we were trying to hide.

It was an awesome sword and my first magical item ever.

Well, I started off in a Monty Haul campaign, and the first item I came across was a Ring of Ultimate Elemental Control.
It was ridiculously broken. I can't even recall how many unique powers this thing had. I know I could summon one of each elemental once per week. I was immune to all elemental damage, I could make wals of fire, stone, water, and air.
It was stupid broken, and I loved it! :D

My very first character was a cleric. My very first magic item was an axe +2.

It was also the only magic weapon that character ever got to lay hands on.

Oooh, though we didn't ever learn its name in character it was an artifact called the Sphere of Notobar (iirc). It was good for elves, not so good for other races.

I, of course, was a paladin. This meant I was human (1st ed).

We learned it was good for elves because the elf in the party picked it up and healed. He figured out he could heal folks with it by touching them. We learned it was bad for others later when he tried to heal the party ranger and almost killed 'im with it. :o

My first magical item, ever, must probably have been a +1 longsword.

My first special magical item was a frostbrand longsword for my AD&D 1e assassin character.

The iounstone where you didn't have to breath

and later a wand of something, maybe lighting bolts

I made it all the way to sixth level without picking anything else up

A low tresure, high roleplaying game

I've never experienced anything quite as great since
