Your gaming group

Ralts Bloodthorne

First Post
Having lurked about, and read threads in here, I've wondered about a few things.
Mainly: What kind of players do you have in your group, what are they in real life, and approximate age.
I know that some of us who have been playing for a long time are well into middle age, and some people are as young as 11-13 that are playing.
Just wondering what kind of group you have, and what the playing style is......

Ages 25-30. Mostly students of various sorts (business, physics, software engineering, theatrical sciences), but also one with a diploma in physics who will soon be drafted (me), and another one with a doctorate in mathematics.

Playing stlye: We like some good combats in our session, mixed with lots of confusion and arguments about what the hell is going on at the moment in the adventure... :D

Me, DM - director of an org which runs variuos international development programs, age 29, married, father

Oleg, human cleric, net admin of the US embassy information service. He works down the hall from me. 26 single.

Jason - "the other American" 27, works as a progam officer of another development program, single

Andrey, human rogue, 28, married, no children - programmer for large local bank

Zhenya, human evoker, 27, umnarried, also works as programmer for large local bank

This is our current group, we don't play D&D that often, we are currently playing Flashing Blades, next we will either be playing my D&D or Vampire: Dark Ages.

Me - occasional DM - as a Player, I either act in a leadership role (if Mark is DMing and if Richie doesn't take that role). and/or I provide the in-party conflict, due to my characters personalities.

Richie - Current DM - When not DM'ing he is usually the party psychopath, with the biggest weapon and most violent attitude.

Mark - Frequent DM - as a player he normally takes a leadership role, although is pretty versatile as a roleplayer.

Amaya - New player still learning the ropes, but doing pretty well, not been playing long enough to see her style of play.

Germaine - New player still learning the ropes, but doing pretty well, not been playing long enough to see her style of play.

Sue - Tends to play real Tom-boy characters that are often more violent than the fella's she games with.

Edit: Thanks for picking up my my spelling error.

My current Scarred Lands campaign has four players + myself. Two females, three males, age ranges between 23 and 32. And everyone is gainfully employed in some kind of computer field, ranging between medical billing programs, developing websites, and testing video games.

Really great group, I have to say.

Role Call! (ahem)

ME: GM about 90% of the time. Age 27. I work as a computer network engineer. I've been gaming for 20 years or so.

Jill: My wife. Age 24. She's a teacher. She's been gaming about 7 years or so. She usually plays the most volatile and violent characters, and is the de-facto leader.

Josh: Age 17. Playing since he was 12. Highschool student. Josh has made the transition from 12-year-old munchkin to 17-year old mature player. He is also GMing a lot more now and is getting really good at it.

Matt: Age 25. Works in medical biology (bone disease). Calm, level-headed and cheerful. He is "support guy" for the other players. Matt was a highschool gaming buddy of mine from back in the day.

We also have a parade of "guest stars" who play on occasion and make "cameos". These are usually co-workers of mine, or old gaming buddies of mine from high school.

Sounds like we play in the same group.:)
I have 2 groups. Both meet sporadically.
Ages range from 34-39.
1st group. Highly cooperative, rules oriented
1 Business Owner
2 IT professionals
1 Creative Director
1 Pharmacist
1 Marketing Analyst

2nd group Highly inventive, competitive.
1 Sales
1 Programer
1 IT professional
1 Creative Director
1 Video Producer

Our families keep us busy most of the time, but we've continued to play since 1977.

This gamming group was just put together so I cannot comment on how they will relate to one another.

The style of play that I would like to set up is intrigue/mystery. Hopefully battle will be taking a backseat to role-playing. I am hoping that my group goes the dark hero (ala Batman) route. I don't know their races or classes yet but there is 7 including me. Ages 19 - 28. Most are college students though I am a web-developer, 1 is a securities specialist, 1 is a special needs teacher.
